I have a 13-month old who loved carrots as a baby. I would steam them, then puree them up in my Baby Bullet and she couldn’t eat enough of them. Even when she started cutting those top and bottom teeth, I would hand her a steamed baby carrot and she would gnaw her way through it.
Now, just a few short months later, her affinity for carrots has waned. It’s like she went on strike. What could I do? I know carrots are full of healthy vitamins her growing body needs, but she was not having it.
Well, desperate, I went back to the old pureeing method. I steamed those carrots, pureed them like old times, and she absolutely ate them up! This time with the precision and concentration of a pro with her big girl spoon.
Moral of this story? Don’t give up! Your kids might think they’re fed up of a particular vegetable or food, but take a step back and keep calm. The answer might be staring you in the face.
Her palate has grown, so I figured I’d step this puree up a notch. I added some apples along with savory grated ginger. Introducing spices and, in this case, ginger is recommended right around the 8-month mark.
